The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Wednesday was a 92-92-107 draw. The TSX Venture Exchange fell three points to 884 while polished diamond prices added 0.1 per cent. Ken MacNeill and George Read's Shore Gold Inc. (SGF) continues to tread water. The stock closed unchanged at 17.5 cents on 646,000 shares. The next big exploration news is likely to be the start of a 10-hole bulk sample at Star, a huge kimberlite in central Saskatchewan, which is expected to start this spring.
Diacore Group and Dr. Willem Jacobs's foundering Rockwell Diamonds Inc. (RDI: $0.06), halted for nearly a year and facing a March liquidation hearing in a South African court, is still hopeful that a potential sale of its remaining diamond assets along South Africa's Middle Orange River will leave something for shareholders. In early November, a Kimberley-based court delayed the matter until mid-March to allow "full opportunity" to achieve a sale and therefore produce a higher recovery value for the company's creditors, if not for its weary shareholders.
