The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Wednesday was a poor 53-85-124. The TSX Venture Exchange fell six points to 784 while polished diamond prices remained flat. Dr. Leon Daniels's Pangolin Diamonds Corp. (PAN) closed unchanged at 4.5 cents on 996,000 shares. There has been no news since the company found two more microdiamonds in soil samples at Malatswae, in Botswana.

Chuck Fipke's Metalex Ventures Ltd. (MTX), down 1.5 cents to 4.5 cents on 113,000 shares, says it is "in the process of securing the funding" for a big bulk sample of its U2 kimberlite, 60 kilometres west of Victor in the Attawapiskat region of Northern Ontario. It also says that "preliminary discussions with interested parties are under way" and that the company has continued discussions with the locals, seeking a signed agreement. While those words would normally lend encouragement to investors, they are the same words that Mr. Fipke and his crew have laid out in Metalex's quarterly reports for over two years.
