The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Friday was a mediocre 53-64-147. The TSX Venture Exchange fell two points to 772 while polished diamond prices edged lower. Lukas Lundin's Lucara Diamond Corp. (LUC) lost five cents to $2.48 on 447,000 shares. The company continues to do well at its Karowe mine in Botswana, but its next sale of large diamonds is not planned until later this fall.

Ken MacNeill and George Read's Shore Gold Inc. (SGF), unchanged at 20.5 cents on one million shares, has beaten back another attempt by disgruntled retail shareholders to unseat Mr. MacNeill, the company's president and chief executive officer, and three other directors from its board. Last year, the Shore Gold Shareholders Association (SGFSA) came within a few million votes of toppling three of the company's six directors, with Mr. MacNeill, Harvey Bay and Arnie Hillier mustering just 52 million of the 102 million shares voted.

"aging school teacher, rolling out the same slides year after year. Indeed, finding the differences between this year's 24-slide presentation and last year's 25-slide show is a challenge."

My, Will, how quickly 25 years go by (not fly by, but go by). One thing about Shore, it seems to keep Alzheimer's and other degenerative shortcomings at bay.

Makes one wish for the flash and dash of CMKM Diamonds, which was short on substance yet long on hyperbole.

St. George Metals revived to join pink sheet promotion

2004-09-16 09:12 ET - Street Wire

by Lee Webb

St. George Metals Inc., a recently revived Nevada-incorporated shell that can trace its lineage to the former Vancouver Stock Exchange (VSE), has become the latest patron of Urban Casavant's pink sheet company, CMKM Diamonds Inc. St. George will ante up $10-million (U.S.) and a whopping 200 billion restricted shares for a five-per-cent stake "in any and all mineral claims" held by CMKM. (All amounts are in U.S. dollars unless otherwise indicated.)

As with many things involving CMKM, exactly how many mineral claims the company holds is a matter of some conjecture. Based on sketchy information provided by the company, it appears that CMKM may have varying interests in claims covering between 1.4 million acres and 1.9 million acres in Saskatchewan.

Most of the company's prodigious promotional and modest exploration efforts centre on its heavily touted diamond prospects in the Fort a la Corne area where there are two advanced diamond projects, one owned by a group headed by De Beers Canada Corp. and Kensington Resources Ltd. and the other owned by Shore Gold Inc.

Hi!

It's been quite some time since I heard from you.

Yes, CMKM and its massive promotion of two 0.00000005-carat diamonds, and Shore Gold, and its withered promotion of undoubtedly huge diamonds, perhaps with sufficient grade to be economic.

All eyes turn to Rio Tinto. Hopefully it will not take seven years for an answer. But then, some shareholders have already been here for 21 years.

Cheers,

Will

It may be worth noting that while the SGFSA is still disgruntled with the progress of SGF and management, and might I add not with out good cause. They too are starting to feel the effects of division within their own association, as evidenced by only having 40M votes supporting their cause compared to the 50M they had the year before.

Well, Steve, you're right. Sort of.

I had considered pointing out what you did, but then...

It was abundantly clear to anyone watching that SGF had built at least 50 million more friendly votes than last year through their recent deals, so it is not unreasonable that many of the (possibly still loyal) SGFSA votes "stayed home."

Or not. We will never know -- but it is true that there have been signs of discord on the InvestorVillage forum that is home to many of the SGFSA faithful.

Thanks for pointing it out, in any case.

Cheers,

Will
