The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Monday was a mediocre 48-61-148. The TSX Venture Exchange fell fractionally to 760 while polished diamond prices edged lower. Dominion Diamond Corp. (DDC) lost five cents to $17.60 on 178,000 shares. The company agreed to a takeover at $14.25 (U.S.) last week, but that deal has been looking less attractive in Canadian currency with each new day.
Chris Taylor's Dunnedin Ventures Inc. (DVI), up two cents to 22.5 cents on 21,000 shares, has sold 1.33 million flow-through shares at 32 cents and 16.49 million regular shares at 25 cents, raising $4.55-million. The company also received just under $600,000 from the exercise of 3.88 million warrants at 15 cents. In all, Dunnedin has added $5.14-million to its coffers. Mr. Taylor, president and chief executive officer, says the cash is for exploration at its Kahuna project, just north of Rankin Inlet in Nunavut, and for general working capital.
