The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Thursday was a negative 58-65-134. The TSX Venture Exchange fell fractionally to 771 while polished diamond prices slumped 1 per cent. Ken MacNeill and George Read's Shore Gold Inc. (SGF) gained one cents to 36.5 cents on 765,000 shares. Shore, a perennial 20-center for the past few years, caught the market's eye this spring with reports it is talking with third parties about ways to advance its huge Star-Orion South diamond project in central Saskatchewan.
David Hodge's reluctant diamond explorer, Zimtu Capital Corp. (ZC), lost one-half cent to 30.5 cents on 1,000 shares. Zimtu has begun an exploration program on the Munn Lake diamond project in the South Slave district of the Northwest Territories. The work could be the first real effort on the property in a decade, as Mr. Hodge has had problems in finding a company with the wherewithal to tackle the project.
