The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Monday was an 80-80-100 draw. The TSX Venture Exchange gained one point to 837 while polished diamond prices inched higher. James Nelson's Cruz Capital Corp. (CUZ) gained two cents to 21 cents on 2.95 million shares. Cruz is promoting cobalt these days and it plans a name change to Cruz Cobalt to highlight its new pitch.

Richard Mazur and Mike Koziol's Alto Ventures Ltd. (ATV), unchanged at eight cents on 83,000 shares, wrapped up its small drill program at the GEFA diamond project in Northern Saskatchewan. The holes tested four high-priority diamond targets identified in a 2015 geophysical survey that were "interpreted to be consistent with kimberlite intrusions." Alas, that was the end of the consistency -- and any connection with kimberlite. One of the targets was determined to be related to an ultramafic intrusive body surrounded by gneiss -- a dud -- while the other three targets were "related to locally increased concentrations in meta-sedimentary gneiss" -- more duds.
