The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Wednesday was a positive 63-58-141. The TSX Venture Exchange lost three points to 790 while polished diamond prices inched higher. Ken MacNeill's Shore Gold Inc. (SGF) gained one-half cent to 18 cents on 172,000 shares. Many of Shore's rivals have been moving higher this month but Shore has been lagging, suggesting that on Howe Street at least, silence is never golden.
Simon Tam and Denis Hayes's Gem International Resources Inc. (GI), up one-half cent to 6.5 cents on 44,000 shares, is offering eight million shares at five cents. The $400,000 is for payments to help acquire the Dala diamond project in Angola -- a deal currently under renegotiation. The company has been negotiating on and off since it initially agreed to acquire a 22.5-per-cent interest in the project in the fall of 2015. In the most recent iteration of the arrangement, Gem International can acquire a 41.18-per-cent interest in Dala by paying $800,000 (U.S.), issuing five million shares and spending $5-million (U.S.) on exploration.
