The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Monday was a positive 69-62-135. The TSX Venture Exchange rose fractionally to 715 while polished diamond prices fell 0.2 per cent. Nicholas Houghton's True North Gems Inc. (TGX) gained one-half cent to 10.5 cents on 310,000 shares. Spring is turning to summer and the company is still not in production at its Aappaluttoq ruby and sapphire mine in western Greenland.
Terry Tucker's Tango Mining Ltd. (TGV), which surged as high as eight cents on over 22 million shares Friday, gained one cent to 6.5 cents on 7.46 million shares today. There is no news to account for Tango's surge from two or three cents. In April, Tango said it had a tentative arrangement to borrow $30-million (U.S.) from California-based Vanderbilt Commercial Lending Inc. Tango needs $8-million (U.S.) of the cash to compete its acquisition of BK-11 kimberlite and the rest to restart the mine that its current owner, Firestone PLC, briefly ran and then mothballed four years ago.
