The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Friday was a positive 73-62-131. The TSX Venture Exchange gained five points to 715 while polished diamond prices were flat. Terry Tucker's Tango Mining Ltd. (TGV) soared 3.5 cents to 5.5 cents on 22.46 million shares. There was no news to account for the surge. Lukas Lundin and Dr. William Lamb's Lucara Diamond Corp. (LUC), down 17 cents to $3.72 on 11.96 million shares, has completed a mini-bulk sample of the BK-02 pipe in Botswana. The company collected and processed 5,916 tonnes of kimberlite and recovered 274.33 carats, about 4.6 carats per hundred tonnes. The largest diamond weighed 5.48 carats and three other stones topped the two-carat mark, with another 20 weighing at least one carat. Those 24 gems probably weighed roughly 40 carats. so one-carat gems accounted for roughly 15 per cent of the diamond weight recovered. That prompted the company to call the size distribution profile of BK-02 similar to that at the company's Karowe mine, 30 kilometres to the west.
