The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Monday was a positive 57-51-149. The TSX Venture Exchange fell fractionally to 686 while polished diamond prices fell 0.3 per cent. Nicholas Houghton's True North Gems Inc. (TGX) lost 2.5 cents to 11 cents on 1.41 million shares. True North traded up to 20 cents last fall when it was busy building its Aappaluttoq ruby and sapphire mine in Greenland, but construction is dragging on.
Chuck Fipke and Chad Ulansky's Metalex Ventures Ltd. (MTX), down one-half cent to six cents on 50,000 shares, has expanded its diamond joint venture with Wemindji Exploration Inc. in Northern Quebec, staking two additional claim blocks spanning over 1,000 hectares. (Wemindji is owned by the local James Bay area Crees. The two companies had a third co-venturer, John Ryder's Dianor Resources Inc., but it went comatose in the resource sector crash and has since disappeared. At this point, Metalex is the majority partner, with an apparent 73.5-per-cent interest.)
