The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Friday was a positive 68-56-135. The TSX Venture Exchange gained nine points to 674 while polished diamond prices inched higher. Ken MacNeill and George Read's Shore Gold Inc. (SGF) closed unchanged at 21.5 cents on 404,000 shares. The stock, which climbed to 25 cents in mid-April from 19 cents two weeks earlier, has given back most of that modest gain since then. There has been no news.

Ellen Clements's New Nadina Explorations Ltd. (NNA: $0.14) is running short of time to explore its Monument diamond project on the south shore of Lac de Gras. The company resurrected the project just after Ms. Clements's husband and business partner, George Stewart, died in 2005. (The Monument name comes from several large boulders on the shore that resemble gravestones, and RIP, one of Monument's kimberlites, relates to his passing.) Ms. Clements did a yeoman's job resurrecting the old project, discovering and collecting modest samples from several new pipes. Unfortunately, interest in the project evaporated when the diamond market briefly imploded in the late 2000s; the subsequent crash in the junior resource sector has added to New Nadina's woes.
