The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Tuesday was a poor 29-58-152. The TSX Venture Exchange fell six points to 519 while polished diamond prices inched higher. Robert Gannicott and Brendan Bell's Dominion Diamond Corp. (DDC) fell again, dropping 14 cents to $11.69 on 593,000 shares. Slumping rough diamond prices account for Dominion's big slide from $24.60 in June. Glenn Kelly's Orbite Technologies Inc. (ORT) fell 1.5 cents to 46.5 cents on 3.52 million shares. The company is apparently on track to commence production of high-purity alumina before the end of the year.

Eric Friedland's Peregrine Diamonds Ltd. (PGD) lost one-half cent to 17.5 cents on 439,000 shares on the heels of pleasing microdiamond counts from the CH-7 pipe at Chidliak, on Baffin Island. Tom Peregoodoff, chief executive officer, says Peregrine's interpretation of the results supports an improved diamond content for the entire kimberlite pipe, adding that it also confirms the "exceptional" diamond counts for the KIM-5 phase at CH-7. To this point Peregrine's Chidliak promotion has been based on the results of a 47-tonne mini-bulk test grabbed from the surface-based KIM-1 phase of kimberlite. That test averaged 1.04 carats per tonne.
