The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Friday was an upbeat 60-40-150. The TSX Venture Exchange gained seven points to 698 while polished diamond prices were flat. Miles Rideout's Latin American Minerals Inc. (LAT) closed unchanged at 3.5 cents on 5.64 million shares. The company says it is seeking joint venture partners for its Itapoty diamond project in Paraguay. It had one, Olivut Resources Ltd. (OLV: $0.135), until it soured on the project in 2013. Itapoty has yet to produce a kimberlite or even a worthwhile target, but it has yielded dozens of diamonds in surface samples. Glenn Kelly's Orbite Aluminae Inc. (ORT) closed unchanged at 27 cents on 1.92 million shares. The company has been raising cash as it struggles to get its high purity alumina plant, which is well over budget and considerably delayed, into production. The current target calls for commercial production this summer, but the date has shifted all too often over the past two years.
