The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Wednesday was a mediocre 51-49-151. The TSX Venture Exchange rose fractionally to 669 while polished diamond prices gained 0.25 per cent. Grenville Thomas's North Arrow Minerals Inc. (NAR) lost five cents to 70 cents on 28,000 shares. North Arrow's stock hit 90 cents two weeks ago on partial results from its bulk sample of Q1-4, near Repulse Bay in central Nunavut. The stock has since given back most of its gain amid worries the diamond value might not support the apparent modest grade. The full test should wrap up in April. A diamond valuation will follow, perhaps later in the spring. North Arrow's crew think yellow diamonds will boost the average value significantly and they say the grades are better in other parts of the pipe. Mark Smith and Peter Dickie's Niocorp Developments Ltd. (NB) is headed the other way, gaining another 25 cents to $1.71 on 2.45 million shares. Niocorp, which leapt to the TSX from the TSX-V this week, is inching forward with its Elk Creek niobium-scandium project in Nebraska.
