Mr. Raymond Threlkeld reports
RAINY RIVER ANNOUNCES SIGNIFICANT INFILL DRILLING RESULTS
Rainy River Resources Ltd. has released drill results from the Rainy River gold project in Northwestern Ontario.
Highlights include the following:
-
Infill drilling continues to return significant high-grade intercepts
and an important new discovery on the west side of the 17 zone (448 grams per tonne
Au over 1.5 metres).
- The ODM zone continues to show good continuity of high grade (32.7 grams per tonne
Au over nine metres) and wide intervals of lower-grade gold
mineralization (2.2 grams per tonne Au over 30 metres).
Results from all holes are summarized in the table.
New 17 zone mineralization
Two drill holes, NR10-576 and NR10-580, intersected the west flank of the 17 zone at a depth of approximately 365 metres. Drill hole NR10-580 was drilled 75 metres up dip from NR10-576. The structure encountered is interpreted to be a westerly plunging fold situated along a footwall fault to the ODM-17 zone. These results indicate a new gold zone within an area that has seen limited exploration below 300 metres depth.
NR10-576: 448 grams per tonne (13.06 ounces per ton) gold over 1.5 metres from 555.5 metres to 557.0 metres
and 1.8 grams per tonne gold over 9.8 metres from 460.2 metres to 470.0 metres and 2.81 grams per tonne
gold over 10.5 metres from 534.5 metres to 545.0 metres
NR10-580: 8.7 grams per tonne gold over 17.5 metres, including 88.9 grams per tonne gold (2.59 ounces per ton)
over 1.5 metres from 382.5 metres to 400.0 metres.
Other notable results from the 17 zone include:
-
NR10-589: 1.4 grams per tonne gold over 19.5 metres from 276.5 metres to 296.0 metres and 1.3 grams per tonne
gold over 7.5 metres from 353.0 metres to 360.5 metres;
-
NR10-583: one gram per tonne gold over 19.5 metres from 417.5 metres to 437.0 metres and 0.8 gram per tonne
gold over 13.5 metres from 491.0 metres to 504.5 metres.
ODM zone drilling
Infill drilling in the ODM zone within conceptual open pit depths returned the following intercepts:
- NR10-578: 32.7 grams per tonne gold over nine metres from 314.0 metres to 323.0 metres drill depth,
including 187.7 grams per tonne (5.47 ounces per ton) over 1.5 metres;
- NR10-560: 7.9 grams per tonne gold over two metres from 482.0 metres to 484.0 metres drill depth.
This hole also intersected mineralization in the Cap zone
with 1.4 grams per tonne gold over 7.5 metres from 69.0 metres to 76.5 metres;
- NR10-571: 2.5 grams per tonne gold over nine metres from 278.0 metres to 287.0 metres drill depth;
-
NR10-559: 1.1 grams per tonne gold over 15.0 metres from 303.5 metres to 318.5 metres drill depth and
1.4 grams per tonne gold over 13.5 metres from 327.5 metres to 341.0 metres drill depth.
This hole also intersected mineralization in the Cap zone
with 8.3 grams per tonne gold over 1.5 metres from 12.5 metres to 14.0 metres;
- NR10-586: 2.2 grams per tonne gold over 30.0 metres from 455.0 metres to 485.0 metres, including 19.4
grams per tonne gold over one metre. An intercept of 6.4 grams per tonne gold over 1.5 metres was also reported from the Cap zone between 119.0 metres and 120.5 metres drill depth.
433 zone drilling
Recent results from the infill drilling within the 433 zone returned several mineralized intersections, including:
-
NR10-561: 2.4 grams per tonne gold returned over 18.0 metres from 368.0 metres to 386.0 metres drill
depth, including 15.2 grams per tonne gold over 1.5 metres;
- NR10-562: 0.9 gram per tonne gold over 31.5 metres from 377.0 metres to 408.5 metres drill depth;
-
NR10-564: 5.6 grams per tonne gold over 1.5 metres from 278.5 to 280.0 metres, 1.4 grams per tonne gold
over 16.5 metres from 296.5 metres to 313.0 metres and 0.83 gram per tonne gold over 16.5 metres from 329.5 metres to 346.0 metres;
- NR10-565: two grams per tonne gold returned over 19.8 metres from 252.2 metres to 272.0 metres drill
depth, including a higher-grade interval of 18.1 grams per tonne gold
over 1.5 metres.
Commentary
"These recent infill results have delivered some very high grade intersections in the ODM, 17 and 433 zones, all at relatively shallow depths," commented Raymond Threlkeld, president and chief executive officer. "Work has begun to prepare the updated NI 43-101 resource estimate using the latest information from the infill program and structural interpretation work completed by our consultants. Year to date the company has drilled over 96,000 metres at the Rainy River gold project which is a major accomplishment and a credit to the exploration team we've assembled."
Qualified persons
Rainy River's exploration program in Richardson township is being supervised by Kerry Sparkes, PGeo, vice-president, exploration, a qualified person as defined by National Instrument 43-101. Garett Macdonald, PEng, is the person responsible for the content of this news release. The company continues to implement a rigorous quality assurance-quality control program to ensure best practices in sampling and analysis of drill core. The procedures of the quality assurance-quality control program are detailed on Rainy River's website.
