PETAQUILLA MINERALS LTD. CHANGES FINANCIAL YEAR-END

Petaquilla Minerals Ltd. has changed its financial year-end from May 31 to June 30. As a result of this change, the company will have a transitional 13-month financial year ended June 30, 2013.

The change in the financial year-end has been completed in preparation for the spinout of the company's infrastructure subsidiary, Panama Desarrollo de Infraestructuras S.A. as the company requires additional time to ensure accuracy of its financial plan information and allocations between the company and PDI, as well as for audit processes and plan of arrangement preparation. The company intends to proceed with the spinout during its 2014 fiscal year.

Further details regarding the change in financial year-end, including the company's interim reporting periods, are available in the company's notice of change of financial year-end prepared in accordance with Section 4.8 of National Instrument 51-012, which will be filed shortly on SEDAR.

For the 13-month financial year ended June 30, 2013, the company anticipates releasing preliminary results in mid-September, 2013, with audited consolidated financial statements and related documents to be filed at the end of September, 2013.
