CANADA LIFE CAPITAL TRUST ANNOUNCES INTENTION TO REDEEM CANADA LIFE CAPITAL SECURITIES - SERIES A

Canada Life Capital Trust, a trust established by the Canada Life Assurance Company, a subsidiary of Great-West Lifeco Inc., intends to redeem all of its outstanding $300-million principal amount Canada Life Capital securities, Series A, on June 30, 2012, at a redemption price per Series A security equal to $1,000 plus any unpaid indicated yield to the date of redemption.

A notice of the redemption will be sent to holders of the Series A securities in accordance with the Canada Life Capital Trust declaration of trust.
