First Star Resources Inc. is facing a lawsuit in the Supreme Court of British Columbia claiming that the company has not paid four months of rent on its office. A brief notice of claim, filed on Wednesday, Feb. 15, complains of outstanding rent on premises that First Star and a related numbered company, 648564 B.C. Ltd., agreed to sublease at 525-999 West Hastings St. in June, 2011. They agreed to pay $8,025 per month for use of the office and its furniture.
The problem, according to the suit, is that First Star and the numbered company have not paid the rent for November and December, 2011, as well as January and February, 2012. After adding HST and other costs, the total owing is $35,950. The suit seeks court-ordered payment of that amount, plus interest and court costs.
The suit was filed by Vancouver lawyer John Shields on behalf of the plaintiff, Stealth Energy Inc. The defendants have not yet filed a response.
