EMBERCLEAR APPLAUDS GREENGEN'S SUCCESSFUL START-UP OF CHINA'S FIRST NEAR-ZERO EMISSIONS COAL-BASED POWER PLANT
EmberClear Corp. has publicly recognized
the efforts of the GreenGen Power Company for its successful start-up
this week of GreenGen -- China's first near-zero emissions coal-based
power plant that uses Huaneng Clean Energy Research Institute's
(HCERI) gasification technology.
On April 17, the GreenGen team successfully operated the gasifier at the TianjinIntegrated gasification combined cycle (IGCC) power plant. Fed with coal, the gasification operation was stable for
18 hours, reaching 60 per cent of the rated capacity and 2.2-million-per-year reaction
pressure. The test was a thorough review of the gasification facility,
with more than 6,000 test points being evaluated.
"As HCERI's exclusive partner, we are very excited about the successful
start-up at GreenGen this week," EmberClear's chief executive officer Albert Lin said. "We
congratulate the GreenGen team for their success on starting the
world's most efficient coal gasifier. This will allow large -- and
growing -- coal-dependent power companies around the globe to examine a
working plant with this innovative technology. The significant
investments over the years by the world's largest power company now
appears ready to bring the tangible benefits of low-emissions,
affordable power to many parts of the world. We look forward to
GreenGen being fully operational, which we expect to be right around
the corner."
GreenGen and EmberClear are featured in a PBS documentary, "Powering the Planet." This episode began airing in certain markets
on Sunday, April 22.
