ARIZONA COPPER INDUSTRY EXPERT DAN JOHNSON JOINS FLORENCE COPPER PROJECT TEAM
Curis Resources Ltd. has hired Dan
Johnson as the company's new manager of environment and technical
services. A native Arizonan, Mr. Johnson's career spans over 23 years
of environmental management, hydrological engineering and project
management experience in the state's mining industry.
In his new role, Mr. Johnson will lead the company's environmental,
permitting and technical efforts at the Florence copper project,
alongside Curis vice-president of project development Mel Lawson and
the rest of the project team based in Florence, Ariz.
"We are very pleased that Mr. Johnson is on staff. His extensive
knowledge and experience in the copper industry combined with his
relevant educational background will certainly benefit the Florence
copper project," said Michael McPhie, president and chief executive officer of Curis
Resources. "Dan was the most qualified candidate to come forward.
The fact that he is a native Arizonan who has direct experience with
in situ recovery technology and SX/EW processing of copper both
supports the company's local hire policy and continues to build our
world-class engineering and environmental team responsible for the near-term development of the Florence copper project."
Mr. Johnson was most recently employed with Quadra FNX, where he served
as technical services and environmental manager/director for projects
in North America and Chile. Mr. Johnson has also worked at senior
levels for Phelps Dodge, Freeport-McMoran, Rio Tinto and Montgomery
Watson.
Mr. Johnson is a graduate of the University of Arizona and is a
registered geologist, hydrologist and professional engineer. He is
also certified in waste water and water distribution,
MSHA/OSHA/hazardous waste operations, environmental compliance and
management systems, and groundwater/geochemical modelling.
