Mr. James Anderson reports
COPPER CREEK PROVIDES UPDATE ON BONSAI PROPERTY
Copper Creek Gold Corp. has provided an update on exploration at its Bonsai property, located adjacent to Barrick Gold Corp.'s Eskay Creek mine landholdings in northwestern British Columbia. Barrick Gold operated the Eskay Creek mine for 14 years, during which time it was Canada's highest-grade gold mine. Over three million ounces of gold and 160 million ounces of silver, as well as significant lead and zinc credits, were extracted from the mine during its mine life.
Copper Creek is pleased to announce that it has signed a drilling contract with DMAC Drilling Ltd. of Aldergrove, B.C., to drill its Bonsai property. The company plans to drill a minimum of four holes, of approximately 300 metres each for a total of 1,200 metres. The drilling program will commence on or about the second week of September and will target the downdip extension of DDH BZ03-08. Drilled in 2003 by Heritage Explorations Ltd., a geological report by Heritage's qualified person, G.E. Bidwell, and A.W. Worth, stated: "Drilling at Bonsai in 2003 has intersected significant low-grade gold/silver mineralization in pyritic rhyolite breccia, beneath the main gossan outcrop. The mineralized zone is open at depth and to the south, and represents an excellent target for future exploration." The hole referred to returned a 64-metre intersection containing 0.38 gram per tonne gold and 27.08 grams per tonne silver. This mineralization is open downdip and to the east.
"Given the rapid increase in the price of gold, and given that this drill result is only approximately 5,000 metres from Barrick Gold Corp.'s past-producing Eskay Creek gold mine, Copper Creek management feels compelled to test this outstanding drill target," said James Anderson, president.
In addition, the company is immediately mobilizing a crew to the Bonsai property to conduct a soil sampling program to the east and along strike of BZ03-08. Data from soil sampling, together with results from this years drilling, will give Copper Creek a better understanding of the deposition of mineralization at Bonsai. The crew is expected to be actively engaged on the property by the second week of August. The crew will be lodged at the past-producing Eskay Creek mine site, which is just five kilometres from the area to be targeted.
Also, the company, together with Teuton Resources Ltd., has expanded the Bonsai property holdings to the north. The new claims add approximately 300 hectares to the Bonsai claim block, and cover known gossan showings to the north and along strike of other known mineralization on the property. These gossans will also be sampled during the upcoming exploration program. The claim block will now be approximately 2,300 hectares or 5,700 acres in size. Pursuant to an option agreement between the parties, Copper Creek may earn up to a 70-per-cent interest in the Bonsai property from Teuton Resources Ltd.
