Canaccord Genuity Corp. is being sued in the Supreme Court of British Columbia for wrongful dismissal by Peter Virvilis, the firm's former treasurer. Mr. Virvilis claims that Canaccord fired him from his job for no good reason and with little notice. The firing came despite the fact that he had recently moved to Toronto to continue with the firm, he says.

The allegations are contained in a notice of claim filed at the Vancouver courthouse on Tuesday, Feb. 23. Mr. Virvilis, 55, identifies himself as a Canaccord employee of 28 years who had begun with the firm in 1987. His prior job was serving as the assistant treasurer for Expo '86 Corp.

Love it. Good to know Canaccord doesn't discriminate; they screw everyone!

With a $1-million dollar base to start with, this could go higher than one of the old Howe Street promotions.
