The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Monday was a weak 58-77-121. The TSX Venture Exchange rose fractionally to 825 while polished diamond prices fell 0.1 per cent. Dr. Roger Moss and Michael England's CKR Carbon Inc. (CKR) fell three cents to 14 cents on 2.23 million shares. There has been no news since last week, when Sheldon Inwentash arrived as executive chairman, and the week before, when CKR sold 15 million shares at nine cents.

Dermot Desmond's Mountain Province Diamonds Inc. (MPVD) closed unchanged at $4.50 on 90,000 shares. The stock is well below its September high of $7.18, amid worries about the company's lower than expected diamond revenues. Still, shareholders seemed to be in a pleasant mood, or at least in a better mood than they have been for the past few years, when the company held its annual general meeting last week. Six of the company's seven directors were re-elected with impressive margins. Even Mr. Evans, president and chief executive officer -- and lately the company's lightning rod for disgruntlement -- got over 98-per-cent support from the roughly 67 million shares voted. Indeed, shareholders even let up on their collective disapproval of the seventh director, Peeyush Varshney, who got over 85-per-cent support.
