The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Wednesday was an indecisive 58-56-151. The TSX Venture Exchange rose three points to 1,046 while polished diamond prices held steady. Frank Smeenk's Debut Diamonds Inc. (DDI) gained one cent to 1.5 cents on 46,000 shares. The company has an intriguing diamond play in the shadow of the Victor diamond mine in the Attawapiskat region of Northern Ontario, but has no cash to conduct mini-bulk samples. Hope springs eternal, but work has been nonexistent since the recession. Chris Anderson's specialty minerals, base metals and gold explorer, Great Atlantic Resources Corp. (GR), gained one-half cent to three cents on 886,000 shares. The company has not been faring well with drilling. Late last year it cut short a drill program on the West Gore antimony and gold prospect in Nova Scotia because its two holes hit nothing of interest. Great Atlantic has now called off drilling at Keymet, a metals play in New Brunswick, after three holes so it can "re-evaluate" the program.
