IIROC to hold hearing re Gaudreault on Nov. 24

2014-11-21 10:08 ET - News Release

Ms. Carmen Crepin reports

ENFORCEMENT NOTICE HEARING - IN THE MATTER OF JEAN-YVES GAUDREAULT - SETTLEMENT HEARING

A hearing has been scheduled before a hearing panel of the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada (IIROC) to consider whether the hearing panel should accept a settlement agreement entered into between IIROC staff and Jean-Yves Gaudreault.

The agreement concerns the allegation that Mr. Gaudreault, between May, 2005, and October, 2010, failed to use due diligence to ensure that his recommendations to buy, sell and/or hold securities were suitable for one of his clients.

The hearing is not open to the public, unless and until the settlement agreement has been accepted by the hearing panel. If the agreement is accepted, the panel's decision and the settlement agreement will be made available at the IIROC website.

Documents related to continuing IIROC enforcement proceedings -- including reasons and decisions of hearing panels -- are posted on the IIROC website as they become available.

Hearing date:  Nov. 24, 2014, at 9:30 a.m.

Location:  IIROC Rene-Levesque 2, Room A; 5 Place Ville-Marie, Suite 1550; Montreal, Que.

IIROC formally initiated the investigation into Mr. Gaudreault's conduct in May, 2012. The conduct occurred when Mr. Gaudreault was a registered representative with the Quebec City branch of Canaccord Genuity, an IIROC-regulated firm. Mr. Gaudreault is no longer a registrant with an IIROC-regulated firm.
