TIANJIN, China, Aug. 2, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Three upscale residential projects – Hui Jin New City, Royal First Mansion and Royal Lakefront – now being developed in Zhangjiagang city in China's eastern Jiangsu province – have recently selected Otis elevators. Otis is a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).

Developed by Golden New City Group, a major real estate group in Zhangjiagang, the projects feature 85 Otis elevators, including 81 energy-efficient Otis Gen2^® elevators and four Otis Sky™ elevator systems. The elevators will be provided by Otis Elevator China Co., Ltd. ("Otis China"), a local Otis entity.

The Otis Gen2 elevator uses innovative polyurethane-coated steel belts, which make the system more compact and efficient and give it a working life three times longer than systems that use conventional steel ropes. The Gen2 elevators also incorporate ReGen™ drive technology for energy savings of up to 75 percent under normal operating conditions, compared to traditional elevator systems with conventional drives. The Otis Sky systems use permanent magnet gearless machines instead of traditional induction motors to reduce energy consumption and simplify maintenance while ensuring ride quality.
