PORTLAND, Ore. -- (Business Wire)
Del Monte Fresh Produce, N.A., Inc., a subsidiary of Fresh Del Monte
Produce Inc. (NYSE:FDP), (“Del Monte Fresh”) filed a notice to sue
Oregon Health Authority’s Public Health Division and one of its
officials. The Notice to Sue alerts the Oregon Health Authority’s Public
Health Division of its conduct and misleading allegations regarding Del
Monte Fresh’s imported cantaloupes as the source of a Salmonella outbreak
earlier this year despite the lack of sufficient factual basis.
For over a hundred years, Del Monte Fresh established itself as a
trusted premium brand by supplying high quality, safe food products to
consumers worldwide. Del Monte Fresh’s cantaloupes are farmed,
processed, transported, and stored under state-of-the-art food safety
controls that far exceed FDA regulatory requirements. Throughout its
history to present day, Del Monte Fresh has committed and remains
committed to the quality and safety of its products and consumer
satisfaction. Notably, “[t]he FDA investigation ultimately found no
connection between Del Monte Fresh cantaloupes and any cases of Salmonella
Panama, including in Oregon,” the company says. “FDA issued a notice
ending the recall on July 29, 2011.”
