NEW YORK -- (Business Wire)
Macy’s (NYSE:M) is calling all charities, inviting them to participate
in Macy’s seventh annual “Shop For A Cause” charity shopping event.
Macy’s 2012 Shop For A Cause will take place on Aug. 25, 2012, but
charity sign-up begins now. Macy’s Shop For A Cause is a unique
one-day-only shopping event created to support local charities’
fundraising efforts, which have helped raised more than $42 million for
charities across the country since 2006.
To participate in Shop For A Cause, qualified charitable organizations
should log onto macys.com/shopforacause and apply online. In order to
qualify to participate in the event, charitable organizations must have
a 501(c) 3 or other recognized tax-exempt status. Macy’s will then
provide participating organizations with shopping passes to sell for $5
each. The organization will keep 100 percent of every ticket it sells.
The more tickets sold by each organization, the more money it will raise!
By purchasing a shopping pass directly from a charity, customers support
their favorite causes while enjoying a day of spectacular discounts,
entertainment and special events. Pass holders will enjoy special
discounts on most regular, sale and clearance purchases all day. (Some
exclusions apply.)
Participating charities are able to start selling Shop For A Cause
passes now. Shopping passes will also be sold at Macy’s stores beginning
Aug. 18 through Aug. 25, 2012, and at macys.com on Aug. 25, 2012, with
100 percent of the proceeds from Macy’s and macys.com sales of the pass
to benefit the March of Dimes Foundation®, the leading
nonprofit organization on pregnancy and baby health.
Customers who would like to purchase a ticket to benefit a specific
non-profit organization can also find a list of participating charities
at macys.com/shopforacause.
“Giving back is a cornerstone of Macy’s culture, and through our annual
Shop For A Cause program Macy’s has been able to raise more than $42
million for local and national charities that are meaningful for our
customers and associates,” said Martine Reardon, Macy’s chief marketing
officer. “We are proud to offer our customers a simple way to make a
positive difference in their communities while enjoying great savings at
Macy’s. Our customers’ ongoing support is an inspiration, and we hope to
continue making an impact for years to come.”
