MELVILLE, N.Y. -- (Business Wire)
Continuing our dedicated commitment to environmental sustainability,
Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, will be
continuing its long-standing successful relationship with the
Arbor Day Foundation by sponsoring the Community Tree Recovery Program,
which helps to rebuild communities that were devastated by natural
disasters through the planting of trees. Since 2009, Canon U.S.A.’s
contributions to the Arbor Day Foundation have resulted in the planting
of more than 250,000 trees in high-need locations.
“Through its corporate philosophy of Kyosei, Canon strives to make a
difference in the community," said Junichi Yoshitake, senior vice
president and general manager, Business Imaging Solutions Group, Canon
U.S.A., Inc. “Together with the Arbor Day Foundation, our goal is to
help bring up to 50,0001 new trees to these communities that
have been significantly affected by these disasters.”
The Community Tree Recovery Program began by providing tree relief to
the Gulf Coast following Hurricane Katrina. Currently, the program has
active campaigns in Colorado, Kentucky, New Jersey, Texas Lost Pines
Forest, Northern Alabama and Joplin, Missouri.
“The Community Tree Recovery Program is about bringing trees back to
communities rebuilding from natural disasters,” said Dan Lambe, Arbor
Day Foundation vice president of programs. “These trees help restore
ecosystems and return the natural beauty to the afflicted communities.
We thank Canon for their ongoing support.”
Through the Community Tree Recovery Program, Canon will help contribute
to the planting of one tree for every imageRUNNER ADVANCE multifunction
system sold between April 1, 2014 and December 31, 2014, up to a maximum
of 50,000 trees. Adding to their environmental efforts, Canon’s
imageRUNNER ADVANCE multifunction systems contain certain plastic parts
that are fabricated with 100 percent recycled plastic from retired
products, as well as bio-based plastic, a plant-derived
compound that substitutes plastic parts derived from petroleum.2
All imageRUNNER ADVANCE multifunction systems achieve outstanding Total
Energy Consumption (TEC) ratings, earned the ENERGY STAR®3
and have received various EPEAT® ratings, depending on the model (EPEAT
is a global registry for greener electronics). This has been achieved by
using a combination of fusing technologies and low melting point toner
to help decrease power requirements and reduce energy use during standby
and warm-up modes.4 For a complete list of Canon
office systems that are registered in EPEAT and to learn more about the
registry, visit www.EPEAT.net.
