SANTA FE, N.M. -- (Business Wire)
The Motor Vehicle Division (MVD) of the State of New Mexico has signed a
new long-term contract with New Mexico Interactive, LLC (NMI) to provide
eGovernment services. The new, two-year contract also includes two,
one-year renewal options that the New Mexico MVD can exercise to extend
the contract through June 2018.
The Santa Fe-based company has been providing eGovernment services to
the New Mexico MVD since 2009. During this partnership, New Mexico
Interactive has developed numerous websites, online services, and mobile
applications for the MVD, including the Vehicle Registration Suite
(VRS), driver history records (Interactive, Point to Point and Bulk),
and driver monitoring.
“MVD has partnered with New Mexico Interactive to dramatically improve
what the New Mexico motoring public experiences when they enter one of
our offices or connect with us online,” said Mark Williams, MVD
Director. “We’ve found New Mexico Interactive staff forward-thinking and
helpful as MVD works to provide outstanding service—to every customer,
for every transaction, every time.”
The contract was awarded following a competitive bid process, and went
into effect on July 1, 2014. As with the original contract, New Mexico
Interactive will continue to provide eGovernment services for the MVD
using a transaction-funded solution. This model provides eGovernment
services to the division without using appropriated taxpayer budget
dollars.
“We appreciate the confidence that the New Mexico Motor Vehicle Division
continues to place in us,” said Harry Herington, NIC Chief Executive
Officer and Chairman of the Board. “Over the past five years we have
delivered several efficiencies to the motorists of New Mexico, and we
look forward to bringing even more innovation to them in the future.”
About VRS
The collaborative effort between New Mexico’s Motor Vehicle Division and
New Mexico Interactive lead to the implementation of the VRS. The VRS
standardized the process for all authorized entities (dealerships,
authorized retailers, title service companies, super title service
companies, MVD field offices, and municipalities) to issue temporary
tags, demonstration permits, transport permits, and transit permits. The
VRS is an easy-to-use online system that enables entities to enter
vehicle information and generate print-on-demand tags on their own
computer. Instead of purchasing paper temp tags in advance, entities can
create and print the temp tag at the time of sale. Temp tags contain
unique inventory control numbers assigned to each dealership, and can be
issued at any time, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Print-on-demand tags
replaced all handwritten permits starting January 1, 2013.
