MILWAUKEE, Wis. -- (Business Wire)
Sam’s Club will open its new club in Milwaukee Thursday, Aug. 4. The
club will feature more savings, services and innovative ways to shop for
local families, business owners and students. Doors open at 8050 North
124th Street in Milwaukee following an 8:00 a.m. grand re-opening
ceremony. This brand new club will replace the one on Calumet Road,
which opened its doors in 1991.
“We’re excited to show the community our new club and all that it has to
offer,” said Club Manager Dan Jenkins. “Our new club will have a lot
more of those local products that our community loves and to top it off
we’re excited to announce that we will be one of the first clubs in the
country to offer the convenience of Scan & Go shopping.”
Scan & Go is an innovative mobile app designed to make members’ checkout
process faster by being able to scan UPC codes as they load items into
their carts. When they are done shopping and ready to check out, they
can pay directly on their phone from anywhere in the club and bypass the
checkout line.
The Milwaukee club will also offer a convenient drive-thru service
called Club Pickup. This allows members to order items online ahead of
time and have them ready for pick up the next day at no additional cost.
Club Pickup also features a mobile check in option which notifies the
club when members are on their way to pick up the order.
Grand opening ceremony to feature local officials, special events
State Senator Lena C. Taylor and members of the Milwaukee Area Chamber
of Commerce will be among those attending Thursday’s grand opening
ceremony.
Former Green Bay Packers wide receiver Antonio Freeman will greet fans
at the club between 2-4 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 4, 2016. Sam’s Club will
also showcase a variety of food samples and product demonstrations
throughout the re-grand opening weekend.
Commitment to community
The grand opening celebration will focus on the company’s commitment to
being the club of the community by awarding $16,000 in grants to several
local nonprofit organizations. Last year, Sam’s Club and Walmart stores
in Wisconsin provided more than $28 million in cash and in-kind
donations to nonprofit organizations in the state. These donations
represent community grants, food donations and associate volunteer
efforts from stores, clubs and the Walmart Foundation.
In addition to the Sam’s Club giving program, the company also supports
the area by sourcing products from local and regional businesses. Sam’s
Club is proud to carry several regional products, including Malcore
Foods cheese curds and beef sticks, Klement’s summer sausage and
Cherryland’s Best Door County dried cherries. Through the company’s Road
Show program, Mike’s Popcorn and BergHOFF’s EuroCAST professional
cookware will be featured during grand opening weekend. Members will
also be able to enjoy various food samples during the celebration.
