a Grand Award for “Residential Community of the Year-Master Plan” for
The Cannery in Davis, Calif., at the 2016 Gold Nugget Awards presented
during PCBC, the building industry’s leading conference, trade show and
meeting place. Now in its 53rd year, the Gold Nugget Awards
recognize the best in architectural design and planning excellence,
drawing entries from throughout the United States and around the world.
NEW HOME shared the Residential Community of the Year honor with a
talented group of design consultants who helped shape the vision for The
Cannery, including: Jeffrey DeMure + Associates, Robert Hidey
Architects, Dahlin Group, Lim Chang Rohling & Associates, JZMK Partners,
Woodley Architectural Group, SWA, McErlane Associates, Meridian
Interiors and Paolucci Salling & Martin Communication Arts. NEW HOME and
its team also received a Grand Award for Best Community Site Plan for
The Cannery
The Cannery is an innovative mixed-used community with plans for 583
residences and featuring a seven-acre Urban Farm on the site of a former
tomato cannery. The community features a land plan that is the first of
its scale in Davis in more than 20 years. It also includes retail shops,
recreation center, outdoor amphitheaters and miles of trails. As part of
the working farm, a facility called “The Barn” will serve as an
agri-classroom for students and beginning farmers.
The Gold Nugget Awards were the culmination of a big week of honors for
NEW HOME at PCBC. On Tuesday, Kevin Carson, the company’s Northern
California President, was inducted into the California Homebuilding
Foundation Hall of Fame. For more than 30 years, the Foundation’s annual
Hall of Fame gala has recognized more than 200 distinguished individuals
for their professional and philanthropic contributions to homebuilding
and related industries.
