Special events planned through weekend including special guest from L.A. Angels

Sam’s Club will open its newly rebuilt club in Fullerton this Thursday. The doors will officially open following a 9 a.m. grand opening ceremony at the club located at 603 S. Placentia Avenue.

The event will focus on the company’s continued commitment to the community. This brand new club will replace the one next door which opened its doors in 1994.

“We’re excited to offer the community a brand new shopping destination,” said Club Manager Alfred Wendt. ”In our new club, we’ll offer an improved member experience including additional health and wellness services, as well as incredible deals and amazing finds on quality merchandise.”

As part of the grand re-opening celebration, Sam’s Club associates selected several local organizations to receive $10,000 in community giving grants. Last year, Sam’s Club and parent company Walmart gave more than $52 million to non-profits in the state of California. The following local organizations will be presented checks prior to Thursday’s grand opening:

Ceremony to feature local officials, special events, and celebrity guest

Mayor Greg Sebourn and representatives from the Fullerton and Placentia Chambers of Commerce will be among those in attendance at Thursday’s Grand Re-Opening ceremony. The Fullerton Union High School Color Guard will present colors and the Fullerton Union High School marching band will play.

Sam’s Club will showcase a variety of food samples and product demonstrations. Special showcase events include Osaki Massage Chairs and Berghoff Cookware.

To add to the excitement of the grand opening, C.J. Wilson, starting pitcher for the L.A. Angels will be signing autographs in-club on Sunday, February 8 from 1 – 3 p.m.

Free health screenings are offered monthly to both members and the public by the Sam’s Club Pharmacy. Grand opening screenings will assess cholesterol, blood pressure, vision, hearing and a variety of other wellness areas, and will run Thursday, February 5 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and February 6 and 7 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
