MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- (Business Wire)
The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, in partnership
with Alabama Interactive, launched their newly revamped official
website, OutdoorAlabama.com,
and mobile app this month as part of an effort to increase the user
experience in their online space. Both the site and mobile app’s primary
focus is to provide Alabama citizens and visitors with information on
the state's natural resources. Most commonly, users visit the site to
purchase a hunting or fishing license, view upcoming activities, and
study Alabama wildlife. The mobile app offers structured information
available on the website in a manner that is useful to anglers and
hunters to be viewed on the go.
A large portion of the new website homepage landscape is dedicated to a
news platform that features a variety of mixed media content, including
videos, imagery and articles organized by category to cater to each
visitor’s interest. The site's search feature also efficiently delivers
the information that each unique visitor is looking for. Simply typing a
word or key phrase into the search bar will live filter search results
broken out by content type, which displays all matching content in
pages, photos or documents. The newly redesigned site is fully
responsive and is optimized to be accessed on all devices. Built with
Drupal 8, the site also offers a faster and more secure experience.
The official mobile app provides quick access to information tailored to
anglers and hunters. Users can set location preferences to view current
weather, online and offline harvest reporting, and have direct access to
their field guide. The field guide will consist of current rules &
regulations, season bag limits organized by species, Wildlife Management
Area information and feeding times.
In addition to the above features, users will also have immediate access
to their saved hunting or fishing licenses, organized by privilege for
added convenience, as well as the opportunity to purchase a new license
directly through the mobile application.
“We are excited about the launch of the new website and mobile
application,” said Department of Conservation and Natural Resources’
Commissioner, Chris Blankenship. “Both platforms are providing citizens
with new and efficient ways to better access department resources.”
