CHICAGO -- (Business Wire)
Nuveen Investments, a leading global provider of investment services to
institutions as well as individual investors, today announced the
25-year anniversary of the Nuveen Municipal Value Fund, Inc. (NYSE: NUV).
Led since inception by portfolio manager, Tom Spalding, the fund was
introduced on June 17, 1987, and is Nuveen’s oldest closed-end fund.
“We believe NUV is really a poster child for what a closed-end fund
should be, in that CEFs are designed for income,” said Bill Adams,
Executive Vice President of Nuveen Investments. “There is an increasing
demand for tax-free income in the marketplace, especially as the Baby
Boomer generation is now entering retirement en masse. Investors are
looking for funds that generate a reliable dividend over time, and NUV
has demonstrated its ability to provide that over a very long period of
time,” he said.
Led by Spalding and supported by a deep team of research analysts and
traders, the Nuveen Municipal Value Fund, Inc. has provided a measure of
stability and financial confidence throughout various market cycles.
Throughout its 25 year history, NUV’s net asset value has fluctuated
within a total range of $2.49, with investors enjoying a solid history
of regular, monthly tax-exempt distributions.*
“Unlike the tremendous changes we have experienced in other areas of our
lives since 1987, NUV has historically stayed the course, and is really
designed for the long-term investor,” said Spalding. “The asset values
have held up very well in the marketplace, so I think it’s a testimony
that the product has done its job to provide investors with stable
tax-free income, month after month and year after year,” he said.
