State Unveils Redesigned CT.gov, Business Portal, Governor, Lt.
Governor Websites
HARTFORD, Conn. -- (Business Wire)
Connecticut recently launched a complete redesign of the state’s
official state website, CT.gov.
The all-new mobile-first, responsive design site allows CT.gov to be
accessed across multiple devices providing an optimal user experience
for phone, tablet, and desktop users. Along with the new layout and new
features, CT.gov aims to make government services more accessible for
online visitors to conduct business with the state through increased
usability, customer service, transparency, and accessibility.
"In the 21st Century, the state's online presence is our virtual welcome
mat, and we want to ensure that businesses, residents, and visitors
alike have the tools they need to conduct business with the state over
their computers in a way that eliminates redundancy and improves
usability for users," Governor Dannel P. Malloy said. "This
modernization was no doubt long overdue and needed, and as its
development continues, we are keeping an eye towards ensuring that new
features continue to be added that increase the number of online
interactions available for users and make it as easily accessible as
possible."
The new CT.gov provides state government information through a new
topic-driven approach that focuses on getting the end user to the
information they need in the most efficient manner on any device. Rather
than organizing the content by state agency, the information is
organized into eight main topics on the CT.gov homepage. This approach
connects visitors with the state services and information they need,
without having to know which state agency it may fall under. The eight
main topics on the homepage represent the areas citizens are interacting
most with Connecticut state government.
“This has been a tremendously collaborative design effort with agencies
and our implementation partner,” Connecticut Chief Information Officer
Mark Raymond said. “I am thrilled that the new design makes it easier to
access state government and I look forward to bringing even more
electronic services to our citizens and businesses.“
Along with the updated CT.gov Portal, Connecticut launched new websites
for the Office
of the Governor and Office
of the Lieutenant Governor, providing the latest news and
information from both offices at your fingertips.
The new CT.gov also includes a redesigned business
portal that centralizes the state’s business-related services with
the goal of encouraging the private sector to operate and expand
businesses in Connecticut. The four new websites are part of
Connecticut’s major modernization process for the state’s online
presence.
