Two Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources ’ Websites Win National Awards

The Alabama Department of Conservation’s official website, OutdoorAlabama.com, and the Department’s State Parks website, Alapark.com, were both recognized for their excellence in the Horizon Interactive Awards. Both OutdoorAlabama.com and Alapark.com were awarded in the Government Agency category, with OutdoorAlabama.com receiving a silver award, and Alapark.com receiving a gold.

The Horizon Interactive Awards are a leading international interactive media awards competition that highlight the year’s “best of the best” in interactive media production.

The newly updated site utilizes a responsive design that allows access from multiple platforms, including tablets and smartphones, which makes it easier than ever to find information on the go.

Alapark.com provides vital information regarding the access and use of Alabama’s State Parks. The new website details park activities such as hiking, biking, golfing and nature programs. The site also allows users to reserve accommodations, which includes cabins, cottages, hotel rooms, campsites and tee times. Park environments range from Gulf Coast beaches to the Appalachian Mountains, which showcase the state’s dynamic natural diversity.

An international panel of judges evaluated categories ranging from online advertising to mobile applications. The 2015 winning entries showcase the industry’s best interactive media solutions including websites, mobile applications, print media, interactive displays, public exhibits, online advertising, video, email and more.
