The Kentucky Career Center portal has been enhanced with technology that gives job seekers and employers quick access to local employment opportunities and workforce and training information from any Internet device including mobile phones.

“The primary goals of this upgrade to our portal were to provide easy access to relevant and up-to-date employment opportunities to Kentuckians and to connect employers with the best employees for their companies,” said Beth Kuhn, commissioner of the Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet.

“More and more people are using their mobile devices to connect to the Internet wherever they are so it’s important for our customers to be able to use our website from anywhere. We are using responsive design and geocoding to maximize our customers’ experience and increase usage of Kentucky Career Center resources. Now job seekers and employers can get local employment information and services on their cellphones and they are no longer tied to a desktop computer,” Kuhn said.

Geocoding and responsive design will use the person’s current location to find the Kentucky Career Center programs and physical resources that are the closest to them.

In addition to individuals, the site also provides employers access to labor market information and employment recruitment resources.

The portal was built at no cost for the Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet through a public-private partnership with Frankfort-based Kentucky Interactive, LLC.
