Company receives award for the third consecutive year for commitment
to employee excellence
WESTBOROUGH, Mass. -- (Business Wire)
Virtusa
Corporation (NASDAQ GS: VRTU), a global IT services company that
combines innovation, technology leadership and industry solutions to
transform the customer experience, today announced that it has earned a
Silver Stevie® Award for ‘Human Resources (HR) Department of the
Year-Computer Software and Services’ in the 11th annual
International Business Awards. This is the third consecutive year
Virtusa has had its Human Resources division honored.
“It’s incredibly humbling to be honored with this award for the third
straight year,” said Kris Canekeratne, chairman and CEO of Virtusa.
“During the past year we’ve successfully ‘gamified’ our processes by
implementing our very own, proprietary social media platform to boost
team member communication and energize our millennial workforce. This
implementation has invigorated team member morale, facilitated better
collaboration and knowledge sharing among team members, driven
productivity improvements and helped in finding new, innovative ways to
address our clients changing needs.”
Key to the overall success of Virtusa’s human resources program is its
commitment to being an employee-centric brand. Knowing that its growing,
global workforce was becoming increasingly staffed with young, social
media-savvy millennials, Virtusa developed its own social business
platform, called V+, to help its team members work, learn, collaborate,
and innovate. Testing the theory that employees could be motivated
beyond financial incentives, V+ relies on the principles of gamification
to encourage team members to solve problems and increase productivity.
The system provides a real-time ‘leaderboard’ across its offices to
showcase top performers, a ‘RAVE’ feature to solicit constant and
immediate feedback, and the use of ‘badges’ to highlight team member
accomplishments.
“The deployment of gamification was a huge transition from our legacy
systems and modalities,” said Sundararajan Narayanan, senior vice
president and global HR head, Virtusa. “Knowing that eighty-six percent
of our workforce was now comprised of tech-savvy millennials, it was
important for our business to adapt to the change in culture. The V+
system not only provided a way for our company to increase productivity
and revenue in 2013, but it is also a perfect example of Virtusa being
an employee-first organization, willing to go an extra step to motivate
and reward team members.”
Over the past year, Virtusa has been recognized all over the world for
its commitment to employee excellence with numerous awards, including
Britain’s Top Employer, the Golden Peacock HR Excellence Award, Asia’s
Best Employer Brand, Best Places to Work by The Albany Business
Review and Achiever’s Top 50 Most Engaged Work Places Award.
This year more than 3,500 nominations were submitted and Virtusa was one
of just two companies to receive an honor in this category. To see a
