Malaysia Airlines (MLYAF) Jimmy Choo Exclusive Appearance Sets Design Hopefuls on the Right Foot

2015-04-02 03:14 ET - News Release

Sydney, Australia, April 2, 2015 - (ABN Newswire) - World-renowned fashion icon Professor Datuk Jimmy Choo will make a rare public appearance in Perth to front an interactive master class discussing his rise to fame from humble beginnings and exclusive fashion think tank in partnership with Curtin University and his airline of choice, Malaysia Airlines (KLSE:MAS) (OTCMKTS:MLYAF).

Professor Choo will deliver a one-off masterclass for the fashion industry and Curtin University students on Thursday 9 April followed by 'The Fashion Tank' on Friday 10 April where he will join forces with a panel of fashion experts to give selected students a once-in-a lifetime opportunity to show examples of their work and gain priceless advice and feedback.

The initiative is another example of Malaysia Airlines' dedication to bringing Malaysia and Australia closer together following recent partnerships with Poh Ling Yeow, Malaysian-born celebrity cook and Logie-nominated TV presenter, and tennis sensation Nick Kyrgios whose mother is proudly Malaysian.

Regional Senior Vice President of Malaysia Airlines, Mr PK Lee, said the collaboration with the fashion legend is a result of two parties sharing a common heritage, as well as a desire to achieve excellence and develop long-lasting ties between nations.

"Both countries recognise that their economic futures are tied to each other and connecting our continents has always been a significant goal for Malaysia Airlines," Mr Lee said.

"Our Malaysian heritage is of great importance to us and we believe the face to face with Professor Choo not only gives students the opportunity to pick the brains of one of Malaysia's most successful industry leaders, but demonstrates how hard work and determination can bring our countries closer together."

Professor Choo said Malaysia Airlines' native roots and reputation for excellence in hospitality is one of the key reasons he chooses to fly with the premium carrier.

"I'm really proud of my Malaysian culture and Malaysia Airlines is very close to my heart. I've flown with them for many, many years and I'm a longstanding member of their Enrich frequent flyer program. I've always associated the airline with home and I feel proud to be considered a friend of the airline."

There are now 81 flights a week direct to Malaysia from Australia and New Zealand with Kuala Lumpur as the hub to more than 60 destinations worldwide. Malaysia Airlines operates the state of the art A380 double daily to London and daily to Paris.
