Globe says insider Coolen adds to Trican holdings

2026-11-06 08:51 ET - In the News

The Globe and Mail reports in its Friday edition that so far in November, crude oil futures prices have dropped more than $15 (U.S.) a barrel. Columnist Ted Dixon writes that traders bet heavily that a weak showing by the Republicans in the U.S. midterms would encourage the Trump administration to secure an agreement with Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Unsurprisingly, oil patch stocks fell in sympathy with crude. To confirm the assumption that the geopolitical landscape will continue to support Canadian oil patch stocks, Mr. Dixon looked at insiders to see if they've been buying the November pullback. They have been doing just that. Trican Well bills itself as the largest pressure-pumping service company in Canada. The stock hit a three-month high of $7.68 on Oct. 28, after the release of third-quarter results, but it has since retreated 20 per cent. On Nov. 4, director Tom Coolen bought 100,000 shares in the public market at $6.45. Mr. Coolen is the former chairman and chief executive officer of Iron Horse and joined the Trican board in August, 2025, after the acquisition. Mr. Coolen added to his Trican holdings, which now stand at just over 19.1 million shares or 9.5 per cent of all Trican shares outstanding.
