New York spot gold rose $23.10 to $3,327.30 on Friday. The TSX Venture Exchange added 4.36 points to 683.40 while the TSX gold index gained 15.36 points to 488.82. Most Canadian gold miners gained altitude today. Galiano Gold Inc. (GAU) rose 17 cents to $2.24 on 196,000 shares, while Avino Silver & Gold Mines Ltd. (ASM) rose 24 cents to $3.62 on 1.24 million shares. Among those southbound today were Artemis Gold Inc. (ARTG), which lost three cents to $22.55 on 340,000 shares, and Mandalay Resources Corp. (MND), which fell five cents to $5.17 on 460,000 shares.

Joe Kizis's Bravada Gold Corp. (BVA) was unchanged at 3.5 cents on 353,000 shares on word it is offering up to 33 million shares at three cents, seeking $990,000 to advance its Wind Mountain gold project in Nevada and for working capital. There could be more cash, as the underwriters have a greenshoe option allowing them to buy an additional 3.3 million shares. (About $600,000 will go to a proposed prefeasibility study of Wind Mountain, while another $170,000 will cover annual claim-holding fees.)
