New York spot gold dropped $58.50 to $3,305.60 on Thursday. The TSX Venture Exchange rose 11.78 points to 679.04 while the TSX gold index fell 8.89 points to 473.46. Most Canadian gold miners moved lower with bullion today. The "highest first-quarter production in the company's history" was not enough to save Equinox Gold Corp. (EQX) from a 77-cent decline to $8.70 on 13.5 million shares. Fortuna Mining Corp. (FVI) fell $1.07 to $7.47 on 4.65 million shares on word of its first quarter results.
Some first quarter reports did warrant party hats and horns. Shareholders of Gerard Bond's Oceanagold Corp. (OGC) were buzzing cheerfully on their kazoos after the company said it was on track to deliver its 2025 guidance estimates, sending its stock up 64 cents to $5.73 on 6.64 million shares. Better yet, the company will pay a one-U.S.-cent dividend, sustaining the rate that doubled last quarter.
