Perhaps it can no longer be stopped. Bullion surged another $60.10 to $3,235.30 today, as investors flee to about the only safe haven left as President Trump's tariff two-step wreaks havoc on the major stock markets. The continual flip-flopping aside, there are also conflicts about the matter within the administration's inner circle: Elon Musk, who has diverted his attention from running Tesla Inc. and SpaceX to cutting government spending, spends less time these days pondering how to terraform Mars than he does fretting about the government inadvertently tarifforming Tesla. He recently called Peter Navarro, the government's top trade adviser, a "moron" and "dumber than a sack of bricks" -- then ramped up the rhetoric by deeming the comment "so unfair to bricks."

And so, the market whipsaw continues to run at full speed -- we are just never sure of the direction. Today was an up day at the end, as the TSX Venture Exchange surged 23.42 points to 615.80. The TSX gold index continued to gallop along with bullion, adding another 24.83 points to 482.84. Most Canadian gold miners gained ground today. Orezone Gold Corp. (ORE) added 14 cents to $1.09 on 2.41 million shares, while Novagold Resources Inc. (NG) rose 38 cents to $3.89 on 1.02 million shares. Avino Silver & Gold Mines Ltd. (ASM) also did well, adding 28 cents to $2.76 on 1.31 million shares.
