New York spot gold dropped $9.60 to $2,897.70 on Tuesday, still within hailing distance of the $3,000 mark. The TSX Venture Exchange moved lower today, dropping 8.4 points to 634.54 while the TSX gold index ebbed 6.81 points to 410.79. A few gold and silver miners stuck with their northerly course today: Orvana Minerals Corp. (ORV) added four cents to 35 cents on 157,000 shares, while Aya Gold & Silver Inc. (AYA) helped lead the retreat, dropping 18 cents to $11.71 on 1.99 million shares.

(Remember that this was when New Found Gold reached $13.50, aided by three-digit grades across two-digit lengths at Queensway's Keats, Golden Joint and Lotto areas.)
