New York spot gold jumped $36.30 to close at $2,794.10 on Thursday. The TSX Venture Exchange added 14.34 points to 627.93 while the TSX gold index leapt 15.70 points to 393.61. Canadian gold miners naturally surged today -- except for a few. One of the latter was Americas Gold & Silver Corp. (USA), which fell 1.5 cents to 74.5 cents on 9.32 million shares. Allied Gold Corp. (AAUC) led the way northward, adding 52 cents to $4.60 on 2.72 million shares. Endeavour Silver Corp. (EDR) also did well, adding 48 cents to $5.86 on 1.66 million shares.
Scott Berdahl's Snowline Gold Corp. (SGD) rose 28 cents to $5.60 on 308,000 shares on more assay encouragement from the Valley deposit, at its Rogue project in the mountains of east-central Yukon. Seven new infill tests probed gaps along the margins of the high-grade near-surface core of the deposit, and two were deemed worthy of the highlight reel, while two others at least warranted bolding.
