New York spot gold fell $3.90 to $1,821.60 on Thursday. The TSX-V tagged along with a 16.48-point decline, ending the day at 9,078.04. The TSX gold index also lost ground, losing 3.65 points to 282.81. Iamgold Corp. (AR) also had a tough day, falling 11 cents to $2.08 on 1.18 million shares. Yamana Gold Inc. (YRI) went the other way on word that it produced 1.01 million ounces of gold equivalent last year, adding 10 cents to $5.28 on 6.42 million shares.
Craig Roberts and Collin Kettell's New Found Gold Corp. (NFG) slid 38 cents to $8.08 on 248,000 shares as the company's assay spigot dribbled another lonely result from its Queensway project in north-central Newfoundland today. A 2.45-metre interval across the Keats Footwall zone averaged 56.69 grams of gold per tonne. This hit, the company says, appears to be connected to the 3.35-metre hit in a hole drilled 20 metres northward, which averaged 88.53 grams of gold per tonne.
