New York spot gold rose $10.20 Wednesday, closing at $1,808.50. The TSX Venture Exchange rose 9.98 points to 908.79 while the TSX gold index added 3.40 points to 302.28. Most Canadian gold miners moved little today. Kirkland Lake Gold Ltd. (KL) added 44 cents to $49.95 on 826,000 shares and Agnico Eagle Mines Ltd. (AEM) added 36 cents to $77.37 on 1.43 million shares, while Pan American Silver Corp. (PAAS) managed a 78-cent gain to $34.76 on 403,000 shares.
Cherie Leeden's Gold Bull Resources Corp. (GBRC) rose three cents to 31 cents on 63,000 shares on word that it has drilled a 90-metre interval averaging 0.6 gram of gold per tonne at its Sandman project in Nevada. The new hole was drilled beyond the Abel Knoll resource area, which is open in all directions, the company cheers, noting that the new assays "indicate potential to expand the resource." As a result, follow-up drilling is planned later this year on Sandman, which the company acquired late last year from Newmont Corp. (NGT: $77.51).
