New York spot gold began the week on a high note, adding $24.20 to $1,808.80. The TSX Venture Exchange retreated 15.60 points to 1,082.96 while the TSX gold index rebounded 11.63 points to 292.64. Torex Gold Resources Inc. (TXG) was strong, adding $1.21 to $16.24 on 954,000 shares, as was Pan American Silver Corp. (PAAS), which rose $2.71 to $43.72 on 1.13 million shares.
Brad George's Orosur Mining Inc. (OMI) slid 19.5 cents to 46.5 cents on 745,000 shares on assays from another four holes drilled at its Anza project in Colombia. One hole produced 6.02 grams of gold and six grams of silver per tonne, plus 3.23 per cent zinc, across a 21.6-metre interval, aided by a 1.2-metre zone that averaged 96.44 grams of gold and 34.8 grams of silver per tonne, plus 29.98 per cent zinc. A second hole managed 5.39 grams of gold and 1.65 grams of silver per tonne over 12.25 metres while the two other tests produced just modest grades.
