The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score on Thursday was a weak 65-117-128 as the TSX Venture Exchange fell 10 points to 602 while polished diamond prices inched downward. Polished diamond prices peaked in early March, a few weeks after rough prices topped out, and are about 12 per cent lower today. Golden Share Resources Corp. (GSH) lost one cent to six cents on 40,000 shares on word that its former head, Nick Zeng, has died after a short battle with cancer. A fighter to the end, he stepped down just a few days ago.

Joe Kizis's Equity Metals Corp. (EQTY) lost one-half cent to five cents on 79,000 shares. Equity is still plodding along with its Silver Queen polymetallic deposit in the Skeena district of British Columbia, but it also holds a controlling joint venture interest in the Monument diamond project. Monument is just southwest of Ekati and Diavik on the southern shore of Lac de Gras -- or, as the company enthuses: "strategically located" within 40 kilometres of both mines.
